THE gas aid It was established by President Jair Bolsonaro in 2021 with the aim of helping low-income families to buy a 13 kg gas cylinder.
With the price of gas cylinders skyrocketing, many families are being forced to cook with wood fires or, because they are unable to buy a gas cylinder, are going without food or eating in an extremely precarious way.
The objective of this program is to help the poorest population and provide relief to their families, after all, cooking gas is one of the most expensive basic items for Brazilians.
The average price of a gas cylinder varies between R$115.00 and R$120.00, and depending on the size of the family and the amount of food prepared daily, this gas needs to be purchased every month.
Unfortunately, the Brazilian population is having to deal with ever-increasing inflation and families, in addition to having to bear an increase in the price of food, are having even more difficulty paying for cooking gas and they cannot be prevented from using it for cooking.
For families living in extreme poverty, it is practically impossible to obtain gas to cook food for their family every day, hence the importance of the Gas Voucher for these low-income families.
Anyone who meets the Federal Government's conditions to receive the benefit is entitled to obtain a cylinder every two months and have at least 50% of the average resale price of the 13kg cylinder according to the value annually passed on to consumers.
To be eligible for the gas voucher, families must be registered with CAD Único, which is the Federal Government's single registration program, and have a monthly income equal to or less than half the minimum wage.
In addition, women who are victims of domestic violence and who are being monitored by protective measures against their partners receive assistance.
The aid will be paid preferably to the female head of the family as a voucher through Bolsa Família or Auxilia Brasil.
In reality, there is no place to register for this program, as this benefit will be given to those who are already registered in the single registry, and the government will cross-reference the data and verify who are the users who need it most and who have the lowest income to receive the aid.
More than 19 million families registered in the single CAD will be able to receive the gas aid. The forecast is that the aid will be paid over the next five years, every two months, totaling 30 installments received.
It is worth remembering that all beneficiaries of the single CAD must have their data updated.
For more information, program beneficiaries should consult the CRAS or social service centers in their municipalities and find out when this aid can be paid.
